Bayview Greens Rate Payers Association
The residents of
Bayview Greens are privileged to have a group within their
neighbourhood that care deeply about the issues that effect their
homes, families and enjoyment of their community. This group has
formed a Rate Payers Association that is recognized by the Town of
Aurora as spokesmen for this community. It is important that
we recieve input from all streets that make up our community. Even
if you are unable to participate feel free to join simply to recieve
e-mail updates on issues that impact our community and town.
Just send your name , address and e-mail information to
Brian Veloso at:
brian_veloso@hotmail.com
and you will be added to the e-mail list that receives regular
communications about local events and issues.
This
year's Ratepayers Executive team has been formed and we are
officially registered with the Town of Aurora. The team consists of
five neighbours:
Brian Veloso -
brian_veloso@hotmail.com
Carol Robinson -
kcicrobinso@mobile.rogers.com
John Camplain -
john.camplin@bowne.com
Greg Haines -
ghaines@aci.on.ca
Vince Piron -
vpiron@idirect.com
Again, thanks to everyone
for their on-going support with the Ratepayers Association. I
encourage everyone to get involved and tell a neighbour about our
group. Those wishing to join should email me at their convenience.

It
has been a cold winter and like many people the
ratepayers association has stayed indoors. I did however
venture out last week to meet with the "executive"
members of the other ratepayer groups in Aurora.
The meeting was the first of Aurora ratepayers gathering
together to discuss common issues that affect all our
communities. Being the first meeting the main discussion
surrounding the topic of how do we want to proceed as a
unified group while ensuring that each of our
communities are heard equally.
Our first commitment was to meet on a quarterly basis.
When the dates and times are confirmed for these
meetings I will advise everyone to gather input to be
discussed on our association's behalf.
We are also going to look into creating a central
website with distinct association pages. One of the
existing ratepayer groups in downtown Aurora already
have a site that we can develop on top of.
Other interesting topics at the meeting included:
1. Future Development - A
retirement home is planned for construction just north
of the Town Hall. Also a new supermarket and retail
stores/restaurants are being planned for the north-west
corner of Bayview and Wellington. I was starting to
worry that I would only have two in walking distance.
2. Aurora Ward system - If
possible I would like everyone's feedback on their
thoughts regarding a ward system. Obviously it has its
pros and cons but the group as a whole would like to
take a stand on the subject and your input is crucial.
The responses I receive will determine the association's
view on the subject.
3. 2006 Election - The
group was thinking about hosting a debate at the Town
Hall for the individuals running for council. Does
anyone have any feedback regarding this suggestion?
I will be sure to update everyone as these topics, and
others, present themselves.
Stay warm.
